Senior thesis:
- Title due March 1
- 10 more rough pages due the March 9
Western Civ
- Two, three-page papers due before finals
Ancient Greece
- 10-page paper due before finals
Oh yeah, I’m loving the pressure. Bring it, Baby!
Classes for next quarter are looking good
- Chinese 3 (should be easy enough since I’ve already completed CHIN 4)
- Philippines Under Spain. I know Philippines are in South East Asia and my area’s China/East Asia. I would have liked to do Korea as independent study but the only full-time Asia faculty is the chair for this year and she’s too busy to help me out there.
- Hellenistic Greece. Greenwalt Class! Yay!
- Anything else I’m lucky enough to have time for and be able to add into

So much fun (pain) on my bike today.
After classes and some paperwork stuff at SCU, Frank and I went up to Fremont Older, he to hike, myself to bike. It was hard as heck for me to get up those steep hills. I’m sure tomorrow I’ll have some new muscles giving me grief. I couldn’t make it nearly as far as Frank and I had to turn around before I wold have liked.
What I did do, though, was bike from Fremont Older, down De Anza, left on Stevens Creek to De Anza College. Across from where I met my buddy Preston. Pres and I went out to have a nice early dinner with our friend Pat. Frank picked me up from the restaurant to grab Yuriy and his car from the ER (don’t worry, he’s fine, ladies). Frank took me back to my bike which was at about 85 and Stevens Creek. I had been planning on strapping it back onto the bike rack and driving it back with Frank but something told me I hadn’t suffered enough for a day.
So I get my bike, gloves, jacket, and head out. Shot straight down Stevens Creek from 85, under 280, past the car dealerships, past Santana Row and the mall, over 880/17, left on Bascom, under the 880 ramp, and finally to HOME!
8 miles. 40 minutes.
Loving it!

Found out that the ride to the local Home Depot isn’t nearly as difficult as I was anticipating. What mostly sucked was the underpass on Lafayette. It was fun going down, but the traffic and complete lack of bike lane made me a bit nervous. Next time I’ll find a way to get there with side streets perhaps.
Outside the home depot was another 21-speed mountain bike with full suspension, but in sexy black with front disk brakes. I got the tool I needed and on the my way out ran into the owner of the other bike. We chatted a bit while getting our locks off and gloves on. Good times.
Got my hike with Frank tomorrow…planning on bringing my bike up the trail….oooh yeah.

Mike, Mom, Vito and I were in an airport in Wash State (I think). We were in a lounge waiting. I went off with my laptop, Mom and Vito followed me. I went through a security gate which beeped at me. A guy dressed like a security officer but with no badges or IDs came up and asked to for the laptop. I could tell he wasn’t a security officer and didn’t give it to him. I started back toward the lounge with him following. When I got there I noticed he was playing with a largish black box. I could tell something was going to go wrong. When he got into the lounge I started running down the rest of the corridor. On my way down I heard the explosion and felt the hall shake. I kept running and jumped behind a couch expecting to be enveloped in the Hollywood-style wall of fire that never came.

Okay….so I was getting really ancy this evening. A little stir crazy, you know? And although Frank and I are going hiking tomorrow (anyone interested in coming along for a hopefully strenuous hike or going half way for something easier let me know) I decided to go out for a ride, get some fresh air, explore the world….usual.
Went down Newhall and down Saratoga to Lion’s Market on Saratoga and 280. Good ride. Only took about an hour and I got lot of soy stuff ^_^ .
We’ve started a new puzzle…a German castle that Lisa visited. This puzzle will be pwned!
Need to make a trip to the hardware store for a 2.5mm hex so I can finally get my handle bars properly aligned and then it’s to the trails with Frank.

Finally, the door to Thai’s cuisine’s delicious secrets has been opened to me. Last night was my first experiment cooking a Thai curry dish myself. A green curry with Onion, broccoli, cabbage, and…yam. Pretty good, but needs some tweaking. Less coconut milk next time, I think. start the yams cooking sooner so the other veggies don’t get as soft. Even got props from non-vegans Mike and Cath…that’s saying something. Once I master the lemon grass I will be unstoppable

Oooh…had a great time at Greek Night last night. I even got to help in the kitchen on rare occasion. Think Cath’s right though, I probably couldn’t get by being vegan in Greece, too much cheese and dairy. At lunch today, we were at a Chinese restaurant and I asked for a vegetarian dish. The waitress asked if she should leave out the onion too. It was great. Buddhist veggie diets don’t have onion or garlic. See? She got it. Who’d get it in Greece?
Happily, there were some vegan dishes at Greek Night. Afterwords, four of us (myself, Mike, Cath, and Linda), last ones out of Park Place, had a family puzzle time after. Frank even joined in (somewhat) once he got back from the BBQ he was at.
Fun times
